Fiction —————————–

DeadlineDominion, Deception, Safely Home – Randy Alcorn

Randy Alcorn’s books are great contemporary stories with an eternal glimpse. His pictures of Heaven and hell are amazing. Yes, they are fiction but very possible.

Zion Covenant, Zion Legacy by Bodie Thoene

Bodie and her husband write great historical fiction. History comes alive. These two series chronicle from just before WWII thru the formation of Israel as a nation.

Shiloh Legacy by Bodie Thoene

The Shiloh Legacy series is around the Oklahoma dust bowl just after WWI.

Galway Chronicles by Bodie Thoene

This series documents the Irish potato famine from an Irish viewpoint.

A. D. Chronicles by Bodie Thoene

This series follows various characters during the life of Jesus. Shows life at that time.

Personal Growth  —————————–

Walking With God, Waking the Dead, Wild at Heart – John Eldredge

John’s writings have been a great help to me. I recommend them, especially “Walking With God” for anyone looking to grow close to God.

He Loves Me! - Wayne Jacobsen

If your spiritual life feels more like performance than freedom, like an empty ritual than a joyful journey, let Wayne help you discover:

  • A Father who loves you more than anyone on this planet ever has or ever will.
  • A growing confidence in His affection for you through whatever circumstances you face.
  • A vibrant relationship with Him that will free you from the torment of shame while it transforms you to live as His child on the earth.

Transforming Together: Authentic Spiritual Mentoring – Ele Parrott

Transforming Together presents the model for genuine spiritual mentoring through the power and work of Christ in the lives of women faithfully pouring into one another.  Women, both young and old, will appreciate the dual focus on the roles of mentor and mentee.  Building on real life testimonies and her experience as a committed mentor, Ele Parrott will guide women as they seek to walk with one another to greater faithfulness in Christ.

Note:  Although Ele writes from a women’s perspective, her insights are as valid for men.

Cure for the Common Life – Living in Your Sweet Spot – Max Lucado

What about you? Our Maker gives assignments to people, “to each according to each one’s
unique ability” (Matt. 25:15). As he calls, he equips. Look back over your life. What have you
consistently done well? What have you loved to do? Stand at the intersection of your affections
and successes and find your uniqueness.
You have one. A divine spark. An uncommon call to an uncommon life. “The Spirit has
given each of us a special way of serving others” (1 Cor. 12:7 CEV). So much for the excuse
“I don’t have anything to offer.” Did the apostle Paul say, “The Spirit has given some of us .
. .”? Or, “The Spirit has given a few of us . . .”? No. “The Spirit has given each of us a special
way of serving others.” Enough of this self-deprecating “I can’t do anything.”
And enough of its arrogant opposite: “I have to do everything.” No, you don’t! You’re not
God’s solution to society, but a solution in society. Imitate Paul, who said, “Our goal is to
stay within the boundaries of God’s plan for us” (2 Cor. 10:13 NLT). Clarify your contribution.
Don’t worry about skills you don’t have. Don’t covet strengths others do have. Just extract
your uniqueness. “Kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you” (2 Tim. 1:6 NASB). And
do so to . . .
make a big deal out of God.
